Saturday Drive

We enjoyed a slow start on Saturday. Us girls woke an hour or more after the boys. We all got showers, played puzzles, read books, and devoured yummy strawberry-banana smoothies {thanks, Buby}. Then we packed a bag and hopped in the Jeep to check out a quaint little street fair in the most lovely village not terribly far from here.

I could spend the whole afternoon driving through the mountains with my crew. Staring out the window. Looking up at the sky. Feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. Listening to music. Chatting away. Reading old People magazines my mom saved for me. It's like being on holiday when we take the Jeep out.

This festival was cute. The vibe was earthy and hip. All the lil' gents had longer hair than Buby. The girls pranced down the street in ribbon-tied pigtails + pretty dresses. The dads commiserated about their long commutes into Manhattan {what trains, what times}. The moms seemed elegant, smart, creatively chic. The treat de jour was fruity granola.

After a pie-eating contest for the "6 and Under" set, we explored a bit on foot and then watched Buby bounce to his heart's content. A few miles down the road we went raspberry picking. The kids were still happy, so we drove to one of our favorite restaurants in that county for dinner. I love how Buby + Bleu can sort of just roll with it on weekends. They were content as clams all through. Before bed we had fresh raspberries over vanilla ice cream and recounted the best parts of the day.
