New York Minute

We zipped into the city yesterday for a quick photo session with Blue Lily. The photographers are still travelling, so we'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see any photos. By the way, Wendy + Tyler were awesome! They were laid back and funny and so good with the kids. If ever they are in your area... or you in theirs... book 'em!

Travel sessions are only 30 minutes. I was worried that wasn't enough time to capture what we wanted, but {I think} it was. They were SUPER fast and shot a mix of family, siblings, Buby + Bleu separately, and even a few of just My Sweets + I. Perfect gift for our anniversary this week! We've known each other 16+ years... been a hot item for 13. And yet, aside from our wedding, we've never had professional photos. Buby is almost 4 and he hasn't either. Not even at a cheesy mall studio when he was a babes. We were due.

We parked down at South Street Seaport in My Sweets' company lot. It was a 25 minute speed walk to where we were shooting in Tribeca. The weather flirted rainstorms and was INSANELY windy. Like... my hair was a rats nest by the time we got there windy. Oh wells. What can you do. After the shoot we quick changed Buby, layered up Bleu and met a friend in the neighborhood. Then we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant, introduced Bleu to the Brooklyn Bridge {from Pier 17} and headed back to our car. Told you it was quick.

It was a really great day. We'll do more next time. Being in Lower Manhattan made me think of all the things I miss about living in the city... and all the things I don't. It made me glad I'm not subject to subways and cabs with small children. It made me thankful for fresh air and relative quiet. And clean bathrooms. It made me miss spicy food, funny friends, fashion and people watching while dining alfresco. I will always love that city vibe.

Photos by me on 5.17.09, except the one of me and the kids.
