New York New York
Bebe received the most wonderful gift in the mail last week. Three books about discovering/loving/living New York City. I fell hard for the city as a little girl, visited whenever I could and lived there for 7 years pre-Buby. I sweet talked My Sweets there after grad school because I was sure he would find it just as magical. We did A LOT of living in that time. Oh the stories... Though we later chose the country for our kids, we want them to spend time in the city, too. So these books are a perfect first look.
ABC NYC: A Book About Seeing New York by Joanne Dugan is chock full of black + white photography ~ places + things that correspond to a letter of the alphabet. It's a lovely little coffee table book.
My New York by Kathy JaKobsen is a personal fave. If you like folk art and children's books that actually say something... you will LOVE this hardcover with 23 paintings, 7 foldout scenes and the first-person adventures of a girl named Becky who lives near the New York Public Library. I'm so happy to have this. I've already read it to both wee ones several times.
Good Night New York City by Adam Gamble and Joe Veno is a classic board book about saying hello to the most iconic people + places around the Big Apple.

WOW, VERY COOL BOOKS, YOU KNOW ME AND NYC!!! VERY AWESOME AND PERFECT GIFT!!!
I have the second book. I removed it from my classroom in 9/01 because it was making some of my students upset (after Sept. 11). I wound up bringing it home because I couldn't bear letting it disappear into someone's closet. I notice that yours is the anniversary edition...we'll have to compare and see what's been changed!
The Anniversary Edition is newer.. it does not show WTC or the towers at all.
