Itty Bitty Superhero

Yesterday was Buby's 2-yr well visit with the pediatrician. It was the first time a nurse has said to Buby, "undress everything but your underwear, put on a gown, and I'll be back." What? Were we lost? She meant diaper, right? It was a happy yellow Looney Tunes gown, but nonetheless, someone was screaming in my ear that my baby is no longer a baby. {I quick snapped these pictures for Daddy, who couldn't be there.} The nurse took weight and height on the grownup scale, which isn't terribly accurate. The results: 36 inches and 39 lbs! None of us could believe it. Ridiculous! We expected 32 lbs, 34 max. The pediatrician insisted the nurse reweigh him, not once but twice!! Still 39 lbs. Solid as a rock. The doctor explained that he's one of the healthiest and strongest kids she's seen and not to change a thing. She also commented on his sweet disposition, excellent comprehension, independent nature {though I assured her there are days he won't let go of my leg}, and enviable eating and sleeping habits {which I hope I didn't just jinx}. It was YIPPIE! YEAH! all around until another nurse came in to draw blood {standard at 2 yr mark} and administer shots. YUCK! Sorry, Bub. He looked at me like I had betrayed him.

Buby is kind of known for his superhero strength. His kickers were like weapons in the womb. I felt them early and hard. All muscle. At barely 2, he can lug furniture from one side of the room to the other, he has a forceful overhand throw, and never tires while dancing, jumping, and climbing. My guess is that he was hardwired with Uncle Billy's athleticism. Uncle B. was a big football, basketball, and baseball star growing up.

Glad to hear all went well with the visit. 39 lbs? Too funny. I think it's great you took pictures, too.

He really looks so grown up in the gown. And so happy and excited, I'm guessing the pictures were taken before the blood draw and shots?

I'm really interested to see what L's stats are at her appointment tomorrow, I wonder if I'm as far off with my estimates of her weight?
