Buby and I stopped by a ginormous community yardsale this morning and snagged the only copy of Richard Scarry's "Biggest Word Book Ever" by Random House. It was a steal at $3. (The list price is $40.) The 14-page board book is as tall as a toddler and colorfully illustrated with hundreds of recognizable characters from the author's (a children's book giant himself) other classic titles. Each perky picture crammed on page is identified with a short word or phrase, so Mama & Daddy aren't racking their brains trying to name things (Aunt Henny's egg truck?). As soon as we got home, Buby laid on his tummy studying every image in the book. This is a fun tome I can see being in our family for a long time. The lady who sold it to us looked like she would really miss it.
