Say hello to Buby's "Time Out Chair." My sister-in-law and I recently stumbled on this petite perch at a wonderful antique shop run out of a garage. Nice solid wood. It's a perfect match for Buby Land, so as soon as she passed on it, I snagged it. We only use it on rare occasion when Buby deliberately acts out (usually harassing our dog Jazzy, either pulling her tail or sticking his fingers in her eye balls just for kicks). What can we say, he's approaching 2 and likes to test us. I ask him to go to the chair and then I plop down on the floor next to him. There's a brief starring contest. He's smart and knows exactly why he's there. He whines but waits patiently. The facial expressions are so cute I sometimes have to turn my head and laugh into my sleeve. I count to 10. Only after he signs "Sorry" do I let him down to continue playing. If his feet touch the ground before 10, I start over at 1. Isn't that cruel? The whole process takes about 20 seconds, but it has worked so far.
