Remember When

She was just a baby and...

I thought she might never take a bath without screaming.
I thought she might never grow her first tooth.
I thought she might never enjoy my pedicures.
I thought
she might never stop nursing.
I thought she might never sleep through the night.

I thought she might never trust her daddy as much as me.
I thought she might never sit still through a whole book.
I thought she might never like to brush her teeth.
I thought she might never get buckled in without a fuss.
I thought she might never go for walks without asking to be carried.
I thought she might never let me brush her hair.
I thought she might never share her dolls.
I thought she might never make it through a class without me.
I thought she might never dress herself without any drama.
I thought she might never willingly wear socks again.
I thought she might never forge her own friendships.
I thought she might never forgive my dad for stealing a bite of her cupcake. (ha!)
I thought she might never run into a school without looking back.

But she did all of these things. And does them WELL. Bleu taught me a long time ago that childhood is a series of phases navigated in their own time. As soon as you think something might never be... it is. Might never change... it does. My little girl is three going on seven. She's strong, she's smart, she's full of joy, and she's maturing at a speed I never imagined. Every day I spend with her is MORE FUNNER {as Buby would say} than the last.
