A Nature Hike

10.11.10

Monday we celebrated our friend Gillian's 5th birthday. She had a horse-themed party--with real pony rides--at her home in the mountains. That's what Buby always says when we visit her... that Gilly lives "in the mountains." He loves it there.

Cowboy hats, alphabet necklaces, and Alana's homemade chocolate chip banana bread. What a fantastic way to spend Columbus Day. Not to mention pretty autumn views and the laughter and joy that comes with being surrounded by good friends. Unfortunately, I left my camera in the car for most of the party, so you'll have to use your imaginations.

Before heading home My Sweets wanted to test drive his old dirt bike, which he's been fixing up in his spare time, and our friends generously offered their parents' property not too far away. Tom got in his ride and then lead us on a wonderful little nature hike. We met two very nice horses, stuffed our pockets with pears {Buby's idea}, and picked up leaves and empty bee hives for show-and-tell at school. Oh, and how about that skull? Pretty wild. We left that there.

Thank you, guys, for the experience.

p.s. No baby yet. Obviously. On Wednesday the doctor said I was dilated the same as last Wednesday, about 1 1/2 cm and 70% effaced. No major changes. I could have the baby anytime between now and next week.

If I don't go into labor before next Wednesday's appointment the OB will schedule an induction. He says I'm a good candidate considering my history of super fast labor, and the fact that I live 50 minutes from the hospital, that Tom works in Manhattan, and that I tend to deliver big/healthy babies without complication.

They only do inductions Monday through Thursday though, so we're hoping to get on the schedule for Thursday the 21st. At the latest. Not that we're in a rush or anything... ha.
