5.3.10
We are having a baby. I know I announced this weeks ago, but it never seems really real to me until I've seen proof in the form of an ultrasound. Here's No. 3's very first portrait. It was the longest I've ever waited for an ultrasound. He/she was dated at 15 weeks, so we're still on for the third week of October. P-A-R-T-Y.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this new addition. To see him/her moving around in my belly. Saluting. Waving. Yawning. Kicking. It's beyond anything I could describe, and the photo doesn't do justice. The babes looked so big for 15 weeks. So cute. I glanced over at My Sweets, Buby and Bleu--who definitely had the best seats in the house--and they were all eyes forward. Beaming. It was kind of magical.
We didn't ask the sex. My Sweets doesn't want to know, and I'm finally with him on that. We found out around 18 weeks with the other children. And honestly he makes a good point: We have one of each and would love another of each. So why not be surprised?
BUT SUDDENLY the babes turned toward us and I gasped and pointed and screamed something about man parts. There was no mistaken. I saw them. The technician just smiled. I glanced over at My Sweets, and he thinks maybe he saw it, too. I covered my eyes and blurted out, "Oh my God. We don't want to know. I'm going to pretend I didn't just see that." The technician laughed. She neither confirmed nor denied my outburst. In that moment I turned my focus back to the baby and my heart just smiled. Happiness.
I called my friend Allison as soon as we got home, and she cautioned not to run out and buy blue/brown layettes just yet. She said her friend was TOLD officially they were having a boy, and it turned out to be a girl. {Though I doubt I'm wrong about this, since our babe's bod was sprawled out as if he was stretching with his hands above his hand. No interference.} Still, it's very early to guess such a thing.
We're not having it confirmed, but I may just sneak a peek into that little boy blue bin in the attic to see where we stand. Heehee. Buby ruined most of his infant clothing because of the severity of his GERD. Call me the Girl Scout... I like to be prepared.
