Swimming lessons were canceled, without much notice, for the third week in a row. Something about the Health Department taking control of the YMCA pool. We got the call around 10 a.m., and the kids were immediately puppy faced. They love their Thursday evening swimming lessons. We sort of plan our whole "free day" around it.
So after their monthly hair trims with Danielle I took the wee ones out to lunch. {Not exactly where they would choose, but...} Please don't be grossed out by this, but two weeks ago I saw a commercial for stuffed crust pizza at Pizza Hut and my pregnancy cravings kicked into high gear. I've been wanting that pizza every single day since, so I pinpointed with the girls at the salon a location just 10 minutes away. The deal right now is ANY pizza, ANY size, ANY crust, ANY toppings for just $10. Sold.
Except stuffed crust is $12. {Just so you know.} Really I don't care, but I did tell the server it was false advertising. The kiddos brought in their big Easter water jugs that we never leave home without and made for charming lunch companions. Our pizza was covered in mushrooms, pineapple and green peppers. My craving was completely satisfied, at last, and we almost got out of there without so much as a whisper about indoor voices or staying seated.
Until... the leftover box came and both Bleu and I reached for it at the same time. The top was about to flip open and dump our food onto the floor so I insisted on holding it until we reached the car {and she was otherwise distracted}. No deal. It was after 2 p.m. and our tired Bleu was due to lose it. "MEEEEE!! NOOOOO!!! MEEEEE HOLD!!!!"
Our daughter's standard protest cry is so ear piercing that My Sweets and I usually will do anything to keep her two-year-old fuse from flaring in restaurants. Or one of us will run for the door at the first sign leaving the other to pay. But when it's just me with both children, we have to wait it out until the check comes. Sorry fellow diners. I managed to cool her down within a minute, and we all left--me holding the box--on a happy note.
Of course we stopped at a horse farm on the way home so the kids could say hi and pick some dandelions. Then at home Bleu napped in my bed for two hours while Buby and I built things. It was a good Thursday, even without swimming.
