Photo Gallery: Easter Morning

These pics are pretty bad quality, because all my focus was on the hunt.

We look forward to our village's annual egg hunt the day before Easter. But the kids are starting to really relish the one we have right here in our backyard the morning of. More eggs and less rules, I guess. The hunt precedes getting dressed, eating breakfast, everything.

I spent Friday night filling eggs and readying baskets. Since we do not use candy in our baskets, I decided to rock Buby's world this Easter by tucking one or two flavored jelly beans into every other plastic egg that we hid in the yard. {Last year it was pretzel goldfish, raisins.} There were 20 eggs total, 10 each.

They both had a good handful of jellies in their bellies before breakfast, and that was the end of it. Nobody asked for more, except Grandpa J. Oh, and our wee ones are obsessed with dropping coins into their piggy banks, so we filled the remaining eggs with shiny George Washingtons. Easy for us; exciting for them.

We've come to expect Bleu to take her sweet time while Buby races to the finish. Nothing thrills that boy more than a good egg hunt.

If you remember, I painted our own version of The Golden Egg in 2009. It's wooden and sparkly and sort of the grand finale of egg hunts. Buby was the lucky dog who found it this year, nestled inside a slightly rotted out railroad tie.

Notice the shock and bewilderment on his face as he discovers that I partook in something with artificial flavoring. So not me.

Baskets this year were filled with big slinkies, cool shades, summer reading, jumbo water jugs, mini bouncing eggs, super sized chalk, fancy bubble wands, popsicle molds {to make our own}, and Kashi cereal bars. B + B were over the moon.

Plus, the little dudes were showered with Easter fun stuff from all the grandparents, handmade ornaments and pillow cases, and lots of talk of Jesus and what the day is really about. Buby totally gets it all, and his Sunday school helps. Bleu... not yet.

I only had a camera on me for like 15 minutes all day, so I never snagged an official holiday shot of Buby and Bleu all jazzed up. They coordinated in white, peach, blue and green. I made outfits out of handsome and pretty things they already had.

Bleu wreaking havic on our fish pond. Sorry, fish.

Happy Easter.
