Candids: Pumpkin Sunday

Pumpkins, gourds and squash as far as the eye can see. That's New York State right now. Nature's bounty never ceases to amaze. Nor do my cravings for cider donuts + cocoa.

Sunday after the 9 a.m. church service we stopped at a nursery with pumpkins. The place had an unusually hefty "general admission." But the wee ones had free reign of a corn maze, a hay maze, a petting zoo, a llama feeding yard, a real pumpkin patch {with vines and everything}, and a lengthy uphill tractor ride through ginormous mud puddles. That was priceless.

My Sweets told Buby to pick ANY pumpkin he wanted. I'm 100% sure he chose the heaviest one in the lot. It weighed in at 24 lbs and some change. Buby hugged his new pumpkin and said, "This is the bestest pumpkin EVER!" That was priceless.

During our last run through the hay Buby stopped to make wishes on milkweed. As he threw the fluffy feathery pieces high into the sky he proclaimed, "I wish with all my heart for my very own horse." That was priceless.

Great shots- you are sooo good about taking your camera with you. I have a 5% success rate of out of house photo documentation. I think I may dig out our old digital and stuff it in the van. We went to a pumpkin patch with a petting zoo yesterday and I have nothing to show for it....

Melissa... sounds like we have the exact opposite problem. Ha!

When I'm out anywhere with the kids it's SO easy to just throw the camera across my chest. It's become second nature, b/c the strap is super comfy and hands-free, and I can easily shoot off a bunch of pics with Nola on my hip. I just use auto... no tinkering.

But at home I never know what floor the camera is on. I keep it in its bag, and by the time I get it out of the bag the moment has passed. Plus, I don't like using a flash ever, and the natural lighting in our house isn't always condusive to good shooting. So I have very few at-home shots.
