Grandpa J. turns 71 today. He's an Independence baby {how cool}, and he's here celebrating with us until Monday. Hip hip! His trip is long overdue, so we're looking forward to an awesome holiday weekend. We're kicking it off with Kitty's homemade strawberry rhubarb pie. Here are a few fun facts about my dad-in-law and Buby + Bleu's beloved Grandpa J.
- He calls the kids "Peanut" and "Turkey."
- He has a checkered button up in every color.
- He throws out the most interesting questions.
- He tells the best cop stories.
- He lives in an 1800s house on 100 acres.
- He loves to reminisce about the old days.
- He watches the news and reads the paper and knows what's up.
- He loves his two sons and their families.
- He gives big hugs.
- He drives a 1950's Ford tractor.
- He is a Law + Order, Boston Legal, 24 kind of guy.
- He has a healthy sweet tooth.
- He appreciates a good meal. And fine whiskey.
- He listens to his Manheim Steamrollers CD in the car.
- He does not have a cell phone, which drives us crazy.
- He's been going to the same diner for over 3o years.
