Bitter Sweet

Photo taken outside of school yesterday.

Only 3 more days of school. I'm not sure it has hit Buby yet, despite the parade of end-of-year events. I'm talking about the annual Spring Sing, Museum Night, a student-teacher Kickball Game, Spirit Week {with pajama day}, the Best Buddies Picnic, and an impromptu Talent Show on the last day.

I love Buby's school, his teachers and their entire philosophy on learning. Lord knows it took us long enough to land on this place, but I'm so grateful we did. It was a good fit for Buby. He's grown by leaps + bounds, established some majorly meaningful relationships {with adults and peers}, laughed a lot, and learned more about himself than he ever could have at home with me and Bleu.

I'm glad we only sent him 3 mornings a week. That was the right amount for Buby. Next Fall he'll go 3 full days as a stepping stone to kindergarten, which is 5 full in these parts. I really miss him for those 2 1/2 hours. It's crazy. Bleu, too.

Buby's extracurriculars this year included Art, Spanish and Music classes at his school and private swim lessons at the YMCA. Worth every penny, by the way. My heart sings when I see purple paint splattered halfway up his arm, hear him count to 10 in a foreign language ~ in the shower no less, or jump into the deep end without a noodle. Because it means he's opening himself up to a world of lil' adventures he might not have attempted the week before. I'm psyched for summer and all that it brings, but that school + those friends will be so missed.
