Old Photo Friday

1980 something. This photo makes me appreciate my mom on a whole other level. It reminds me. She was young. She + my dad built a life from nothing... but love. She juggled work and three small children. She never ever missed a game or recital or concert or awards ceremony. And there were A LOT of them. Eventually she gave up a promising and demanding career for a thankless job she didn't care about so that she could be there for dentist appointments and chicken pox and after-school activities. Later she built herself a new career from scratch.

She learned to cook for us and incidentally became the best cook ever. She skimped and saved and didn't want for much so that we could have everything we needed. She and I are alike in many ways and total opposites in others. But she's been there at my side for every big day in my life, and she always finds a way to make me laugh.

You just made me cry. The only thing I ever wanted to be was a wife and mother and I've loved every minute of it! I am now lucky enough to have 2 of my 3 children living close by and able to see 3 of my 5 grandchildren regularily. You know where I'm going with this... Thanks for the kind words I love and miss you all very much!
