Daydreamer
I love this shot of Buby. It's just sooo him. He's our thinker.
We spotted an exquisite old stone church after hiking the preserve on Sunday. Bleu was already snoozing, so My Sweets stayed in the Jeep with her while Buby + I jumped out to nosy around. We ran up that hill at full speed, holding hands and giggling like two kids in a pie shop.
Oh how I love this age. I know three-year-old boys can have their "spirited" moments as they navigate the muddy waters of independence and control. Which makes them most exhausting at times. But when you get past that they are the most fascinating, most empathetic, most imaginative, most thoughtful and entertaining people you'll ever meet in your life. I wish adults could be half as interesting.
I am bewildered and amused every time Buby opens his mouth to tell me a story. I never underestimate him, because he has a better memory and sense of direction than I do. Hands down. His endurance astounds me. The boy speed-walked all 3.5 miles on Sunday without pause. Sweetness pours out of him in the most unexpected ways. He prides himself on making others laugh out loud, especially his sister.
He can't keep a secret. He likes pedicures. He notices the most minute details in a room and will call you out on any changes. He is persistent. He is obsessed with Kitty's cookies. He thinks all week about being "line leader" at school. He is generous and vocal with his love. He is our cuddle bug. He roars like a tiger. He favors "Winnie the Pooh" over any other character or show. He thrives on attention and encouragement. He understands when you can't be somewhere. He can hear a motorcycle from 5 miles away. He is smitten with the girls in his class {particularly Jenna, Mic, and Carrie}. He respects his teachers.
He talks endlessly of being "big" and "strong" like his Daddy. His hero. He is quiet in crowds but won't hesitate to tell his life story to a stranger in the street. He appreciates architecture and fancy food. He cherishes the handmade and is forever curious about the workings of nature. He plays well by himself and with others. He is intense + abstract in his art. He is always hungry. Always and always. A love of music runs deep in his veins. He is organized and freakishly clean {he did not get this from me}. He is out of steam by dinner time.
He fills his bed with books at night. He finds words + images completely captivating. He treasures having his own relationships with people. He inspires me to be a better person on a daily basis. He is particular about how things feel on him and decisive about what he wears. He is cautious and kind and nothing short of wonderful. I hope he never loses his sense of wonder.
Yeah, I love this age.
