Photo Gallery: Eggscellent Day

All photos taken at our annual village egg hunt on Saturday. Last year Buby took home The Golden Egg, so his eggspectations were high to start. Right before he and the other boys sprinted out of the gates, he grew very quiet. I could see him strategizing. And I was impressed that amidst all the excitement he still paused to appreciate Bleu's first egg. He helped her pick it up, patted her back and then continued on his mission.

The village rule is two eggs per child. You give them to the Easter bunny in exchange for two big chocolate bunnies. I thought it was ridiculous the first year {seriously... just two eggs?}. But then we participated in a few larger hunts in the area with no rules at all, and most of the tots when home all teary and empty handed. So I get it. At one point I walked up to Buby, who had just one blue egg in his basket, and asked why he was passing up so many others. He replied, "The Golden Egg, Mommy. I'm saving my second egg for The Golden Egg." Optimistic 'til the very end.

Sorry about the golden egg, Buby! Did Nola walk and get her own egg? Our egg hunt was canceled due to very poor weather (I think the 50mph wind gust would have blown all the small children over!!)
