The Main Event

Here are a few photos from the egg hunt here at our house on Easter morning. Buby found six ginormous plastic eggs hidden in the garden before church. Each was filled with one of his treasured treats: Goldfish pretzel, Goldfish baby, peanuts, raisins, fruit bunnies, or dry roasted almonds. Buby also found one golden egg, just as he had dreamt. I bought a solid wood egg and painted it a glittery gold the night before. I dated the bottom 2009.

I am going to make sure I have enough wooden eggs in my secret craft bin to get the kids through high school, and each year it will be a slightly different design. There will only be one per year, so hopefully the kids share the winner's circle eventually. I'm thinking when they grow up and abandon the hunt altogether {gulp}, My Sweets and I will at least have a beautiful basket of golden eggs, each one dated and oozing with memories of hunts past.

Buby + Bleu's baskets were hidden in the trees + shrubs that morning. For the first year we put something edible in Buby's. He got a small bag of juju bunnies from our village chocolatier. So far he hasn't even asked to open them. Oh, but I know he's going to love them when he does.

That's so sweet of you to think that far ahead. Made me futuristically wistful.
