It sounds awful, but it's true. My best moments with Buby are when Bleu is sleeping, and my best bonding with Bleu happens when Buby is sleeping. For now anyway. I realized the day we brought Bleu girl home from the hospital that I'm just more fun {in Buby's eyes} one on one. That's when I can offer my undivided attention and tailor playtime to either baby or big kid. I know this phase is only temporary. Every day the age gap between Buby + Bleu narrows, and it becomes easier for them to share me and to play nice.
But since the 3 of us are mostly together, I do treasure the time I have alone with each wee one and try to make it special. Sometimes Buby and I craft side by side or huddle under a makeshift tent with a stack of books or rough-house in a way we couldn't do with an infant crawling about. Or, like Sunday, we stage a hide-and-seek egg hunt.
Remember when I told you the secret to hearing Bleu laugh out loud is to throw two pillows on the floor and let her roll? Well, one thing that really gets Buby going is a bunch of plastic eggs. Full or empty, doesn't matter. We played for two hours with the eggs leftover from Gillian's party. At first Buby "hid" them right out in the open, but with each game he stepped up his game and got sneakier. Finally I took out my camera and documented his favorite hiding spots as they happened. I think he'll enjoy looking back on these photos, since he was so proud of himself.
