So yesterday at lunch I fed Bleu a little bread, turkey and organic shredded mozzarella. The turkey was a risk, and it didn't agree with her. 20 minutes later we were walking upstairs when she barfed all over us. I gasped, "Oh no!" Buby yelled up, "What is it, Mommy?" I told him Bleu just had a belly ache. He responded, "Okay, I'll say a prayer for her. If she's sick, I'll say a prayer for her that she feels all better."
I couldn't help but pause at the sweetness. He said it with such authority, too. We've always asked Buby to say an extra prayer at bedtime for anyone who is suffering or ill. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of that in our circle lately. He shows incredible empathy for a boy his age, and that makes us proud parents. I just wish I never had to say the word "cancer" to him again.
