Fractions

Lunchtime is the best time to learn a lot of things, including fractions. Yesterday Buby asked me for a sandwich with strawberry, raspberry and apricot jam. He's not really a sandwich guy, so I was pretty thrown by his request. He practiced spreading the jam with his tot-sized butter knife.

Later he called My Sweets to tell him he had "1/3 strawberry, 1/3 raspberry, and 1/3 apricot in the middle." We just use one piece of bread and fold it over for Buby, so actually 1/2 was peanut butter and the other half was split into thirds. But that's too much math for me. Ha.

During lunch I said, "Look at that. You're eating PB+J." He said, "What?" I said, "It's like a nickname for peanut butter + jelly." To which Buby replied, "Or how about PP+B. Haha. Or PP+BB, which sort of rhymes with bumble bee. Haha. That's my funny trick, Mom. I did that for you."
