Sneak Peek: Buby's Heart Cards
Buby's classmate cards... so far. In lieu of passing around the usual character cards next week Buby is making his own with decorative sheers and a stack of mixed card stock. I showed him how to draw half a heart starting at the edge of folded paper. Boy did he think that was the coolest trick ever. Using kid scissors he cut out all the hearts himself. Dozens of Buby hearts. He didn't want to stop. He adhered them to each card with double-stick tape. Later Buby will practice writing his letters ~ or something that vaguely resembles ~ to monogram the first initial of each of his friends' names inside the heart. It'll be abstract, but a great opportunity to learn.

Excellent hearts! He's so good with scissors! You must be a proud Mama!
If you'll remember... he scored a "D" for "Developing" on his last report card in the "Able to Use Scissors" category. It was one of my rules.. only Mommy does the cutting. But after that mtg with the teacher I decided to let him cut with the kid scissors when we do crafts side-by-side, and he LOVES it!
