01. Wooden Stencils Kit. Love it! It's one of the few non-book items we will be slipping under the tree for Buby. We do some form of art here every day, and lately he's been asking me... "Mommy, can you show me how to draw a horse? A dog? A car?" I tell him to draw whatever he sees his head. And he replies, "But I don't know how. Can you show me?" Of course I try, but I'm not the artist. I think he'll flip over this set {20 bright wooden stencil squares, six colored pencils, and a wooden storage box}. Plus, learning how to hold and manipulate pencils {as opposed to just crayons, markers, and paint brushes} is something we've been working on. $12.98, HearthSong.
02. Connectagons. Very smart. 240 wooden circles multiplied by 9 slots each multiplied by 5 bright colors and countless circle, stripe, dot, and diamond patterns. This is a superb gift for any budding builder, and it's all about growing the imagination. It's on our short list for Buby. $24.98 with wooden storage box. Exclusive to HearthSong.

I love HearthSong. Beautiful toys. I worked with a teacher who had wooden stencils. They lasted years and years and were always a huge hit with the kids. Good gift for Buby. Those connect-blocks look pretty cool, too.
