Charity Bake Sale
I've been baking. The menu: Big + chewy chocolate chip cookies, vanilla cupcakes with crushed candy cane topping, deluxe chocolate-frosted brownies with holiday sprinkles, AND fudgey brownie bites covered in powdered sugar. I pulled recipes from this favorite cookbook, and our home was intoxicated with that just-from-the-oven scent for two straight days. I love that. I must admit the results are pretty delish for someone who doesn't do from-scratch very often.
I wrapped each item with care, printed signs + info about the charity, framed a menu, decorated a donation jar, and packed up the largest canvas tote you've ever seen for My Sweets to take to work and sell. I called it my Bake Sale in a Bag since I won't be there to see it on display. Later I'll post ways you can help Cookies for Kids' Cancer yourself this holiday. It's an awesome charity started by a former colleague of mine to raise awareness of and funds for pediatric cancer research after her two-year-old son was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.

Whether it's a Christmas gift for your husband, wife, child or friend, the act of giving is a show of love and appreciation. It also satisfies a basic need in all of us to please another. All too often, though, we forget about the larger purpose of giving, the purpose giving Christmas gifts to charity can fulfill.
Of course the act of giving a gift to a loved one or someone close to you has an immediate positive impact in seeing the joy on their face as they receive the gift and then them lighting up when they see how much you thought and cared to pick that particular gift for them.
Wow! What a great charity. I checked out the website and vow to host a bake sale once we get settled in our new house. Thanks for the inspiration! It is so great that you took the task on at this busy time of year without thinking twice. You are a good soul!!
