My plan was to start Bleu on rice cereal after her six-month checkup. Then slowly introduce oatmeal and a week later her first stage-1 vegetable. After 4-5 successful days with that, the second vegetable. The ped. agrees it doesn't really matter the order, but I had Buby on sweet potatoes, peas, and carrots {one at a time to isolate any allergies} for a couple of weeks before I let him taste apples or pears. I thought if he tasted the natural sweetness of fruit first he'd wrinkle his nose at the rest.
Soooo, Bleu loved the idea of rice cereal. The new bib. The spoon. The enthusiastic audience {Buby + I literally cheered her on}. But after a few licks the whole shebang went downhill fast. She gave me that look only a daughter could give, like "How could you, Mom. How could you?" I offered it again after her evening nursing and a few more spoonfuls this afternoon. Cereal isn't so neccessary for formula-fed babes who fill their daily iron requirements with every bottle. But nursing babes like Bleu need an additional source of iron starting around six months. So I'll keep on her. I'm sure in a week or two she'll love it. Though, come to think, Buby never did. I tried rice, oat, AND barley with him. Sometimes mixed with breastmilk and sometimes with water. So here are the pics. P.S. Bleu has a cold, so her nose and cheeks are a touch rouge.

Oh poor Bleu, she has a cold? :( How's she doing? Ana Maria LOVED rice ceral, but disliked veggies at first, then she got used to them, I used to mix them in her cereal and she would eat it. Same with meats, she doesn't like meats except chicken...have a fun time with the foods and keep us posted!
wait till she spits it all over buby .. what a surprise that will be to him!! too cute .. love you forever
