All Aglow
Lighting in progress. I'll take a finished shot soon.
Oh dear. My Sweets spent part of Saturday out in the cold stringing lights. Sunday he tinkered with blinkers that shouldn't have been and some mischievous strands that went dark shortly after testing just fine. His poor nose was all sniffly. His hands were bleeding. But I swear he lives for this stuff. Lighting our lil' house every December is HIS thing. Make no mistake.
The whole village lights up on December 1, and the annual "house lighting contest" is supposedly judged on December 6. I picture a car crammed with grannies donning their spectacles and spiral notepads oohing and aahing at every turn. Don't you? We won "most beautiful house" three years ago but went title-less in '06 and '07. Sure we'd love a free gift card to the corner coffee shop or framed sketch of the hood, but that's not why My Sweets goes to all the trouble. I'm sure he does it to woo us, because that's the guy he is. Buby + I are so totally impressed with him every year when he flicks that switch for us. And he knows it. My husband creates magic for us. And he knows it.
This year, just like last, My Sweets announced when it was TIME. Buby and I threw on our boots, draped Grandma's blue blankie over Bleu's head and ran out to the curb all giddy and holding hands.
I'll never forget the look on Buby's face just then. What a simple pleasure. Just lights on gutters. Nothing fancy. When we drive around at night now {in December we call this our Twinkle Light Tours} we go by our own house at least once so that we can see it as others see it at a quick glance. All aglow.

Oooh, we call them Twinkle Lights, too! It's sweet that Tom lights up the house for you guys. It looks beautiful. We'll be sure to drive past on a night when we're checking out twinkle lights!
Good luck in the big lighting competition! I'm sure your house looks amazing.
