Red Caboose Motel

If you ever find yourself in Lancaster County, PA check out this quaint little motel. You can rent each of the vintage cabooses above for only $69 to $129 per night. I'm sure it's rustic {even campish} but worth the experience, if you ask me. We discovered the venue too late for Buby's birthday weekend, but we did spend that Sunday morn at the skinny diner sipping coffee + filling our bellies with fluffy pancakes {think chocolate chip banana burried in whipped cream}.

The guy who started the Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant lost a dare in 1969 to bid on 19 old cabooses at an auction for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The new owner is slowly restoring them all.

Every year I see this place wehn we visit Amishland and I always wonder what it is like. I did not know you could eat there. We'll have to try that next time.

I wonder if Buby knows that Grandpa M worked for the railroad for many years. Again...he always has the cool job. He worked for Penn Central(freight service) from 1973 to 1988 and Amtrak (passenger service)from 1988 - 1989.
