Week 1

5.5.08. Just like her Daddy on the early train... mouth wide open.

A million mini moments I never want to forget. A mix consisting of 4 happy hearts, 4 quarts love, 2 heaping cups exhaustion, 1 tbsp recovery, 1/3 cup comedy routine, a pinch of guilt, + a level scoop of growing pains {for Buby}. Once the house guests cleared out last Wednesday, we realized how out of sorts Buby was. To be expected, of course. He was coming off 2 nights without Mommy, visits with all 4 grandparents, cousins, etc., and the arrival of a new permanent resident to Buby Land who he'd been wondering about, hearing about, reading about for 10 months. An itty bitty baby girl who would rock his world. Buby was super sensitive with us at first {testing 1-2-3}, and we were sensitive to that. But just a week later, he is adjusting amazingly. We do a lot of together time, even if it's as simple as all 4 of us laying in bed reading books, and one-on-one with each parent. Buby seems to genuinely adore his little sis and whispers "I love you Nola Bleu" about 47xs a day as he leans in to kiss her on the forehead. The other day I overheard him say, "I care for you, baby sister." Ahhh. With My Sweets on leave, we have the luxury of giving both kiddies our FULL attention. Which is awesome, since Buby demands it. And so does the newby. Buby goes fishing every single day. Sometimes just with Daddy. Sometimes we all go + I feed Bleu from a bench or watch Buby fill his pockets with rocks. We're always finding new playgrounds and parks. Buby helps me bake muffins. Helps Daddy wash the car. Attends his classes as usual. Plays and reads and puzzles. Only difference is that one of us is always holding Bleu. Or feeding her, in my case. Oh, and we had to institute a temporary "no throwing balls" policy in our playroom, which just about broke Buby's heart. I said as long as Bleu isn't in the room. Otherwise, outside.

sweetness...what an exciting time for you guys! Brings me back to when our little Nena was born only 4 months and 10 days ago. Can't wait to hear more, more and more stories.

Sounds like a great week. I had to chuckle a little at the "no throwing balls in the house" rule...Buby must have been wondering where that one came from! Ahh, but soon enough he'll be teaching his little sister how throw balls like a pro! Glad to hear you are all enjoying yourselves!
