Fresh Air

Buby & Co. spent some quality time at the park yesterday. It was a beautiful day all around. I was anxious to play with my Buby + to give Bebe a bit of fresh air. One funny thing... Have you ever seen Lou & Lou's Safety Patrol on Playhouse Disney? Buby is all Lou. He stood by the red slide and let the older kids know when they were in clear violation. Buby is only 2, so obviously I'm all about him climbing up and sliding down. Using the railing. Waiting his turn. Making sure the coast is clear. These are the basics of playground safety. We go so often it's important to me that he is respectful of the equipment and others. But Buby + I stood alone in our efforts. A handful of other kids were doing flips around the bar, sliding into each other, climbing back up, shoving the wee ones aside... all while their parents turned a blind eye. Buby stopped one girl and said, "USE THE STAIRS. CLIMB UP LIKE THIS. DON'T DO IT THAT WAY." He looked back at me as if to say, "Mom, why aren't they listening to me? They are breaking all the rules." I just reminded Buby to do it his way. Later we returned to that same slide and Buby had apparently decided if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. He started climbing UP the slide. Uh, oh. Those darn kids. Things were going so well. Ha! After the playground we hit the pond so the boys could cast a few while I nursed Bebe.
