The Golden Egg

3.15.08

Saturday was all fun in Buby Land. We made a big breakfast and walked down to the village park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. There were hundreds of kids and lots of new rules. The preschoolers could only pick up one plastic egg at a time. Then they had to walk it back to Easter Bunny and exchange it for her chocolate counterpart and head back for one more. A 2-egg limit?? I guess lots of little ones were disappointed last year. But the silver {or gold} lining was the 3 grand prize Golden Eggs hidden in the fields. The competition was fierce! You should have seen the parents out there acting like this was about them. I was embarrassed for them.

OMG, the belly button sticks out!

While everyone else was scurrying along the fences kicking up leaves in a frenzy, we just enjoyed the sunshine and followed our Buby wherever he wanted to go. That lead us to the baseball diamond. He kept saying, "EASTER EGGS, WHERE ARE YOU?"

We were the only people in the area when My Sweets walked up to a lump in the sand and called Buby. THE GOLDEN EGG!!! You found it! We won!! Now I was embarrassed for myself. But who cares. WE WON!! The boys trotted back to Bunny to cash in. Little Dude was awarded a HUGE Easter basket of goodies from a local chocolatier. He's only 2, so he won't be indulging in cavities this year. His interests lie more in baskets anyhow, and the victory was sweet enough! After the awards "ceremony" we went to the playground.

All winter we drove by the playground and I had to tell Buby "The park is closed." Saturday he ran full speed toward the slide screaming "THE PARK IS NOT CLOSED!! THE PARK IS OPEN!!" After the slide, swings, bouncy dino and spinning thing, we strolled to the riverfront. Buby was pretty well covered in mud by that point. He skipped down the path holding both of our hands and told us a story about the time he went to the river with Grammy DJ in his wagon and "KERPLUNKED" lots of rocks over the bridge into the water. That was last summer... he remembers EVERYthing.

We stopped by our favorite beanery next. A Vanilla latte for Buby's Daddy and an iced decaff for me. Then over to "THE COOKIE SHOP" {really a bakery} for a round of sourdough. The bread lady gave Buby a sugar cookie with sprinkles for winning The Golden Egg. I LOVE that we can walk everywhere on a Saturday morning and the village shop owners all know who we are. Buby cheered "HIPPITY HOP, HIPPITY HOP" all the way home.

I gotta say I'm pretty jealous of your outty! I wanted to have one so bad and it didn't really appear even when I was overdue, it was barely noticible! You look so cute carrying Bebe around! Can't wait to see pics of the little princes. And Buby looks like he had an awesome time!

Hippity Hop Hooray! That looks like tons of fun and it looks like you had a great day for it. We've had nothing but wet, cold, clouds, and slush. I'm so ready for outdoor play days to begin...

We haven't seen you in a few months - Bebe is really getting big. You look so cute pregnant and the look on your face when you look at Buby is priceless. You and Tom are such good parents - we're very proud of you!

Congrats on the golden egg........

You have a great little town and you guys seem to fit in so perfectly. I love that Buby found the golden egg! That's awesome. Too bad about the 2-egg limit...sounds so ridiculous. Where is the goodie basket from...the place near the hair salon?
