Sunshine

It doesn't matter how dark it is when I wake {usually by 5:45} ... Buby has a blinding sunshine about him that forgives all else. He sets each day in blissful high-gear with that very first "HI MOMMY." The boy hugs big and kisses sweet. His baby blues make my heart ache with content, even in gloomy 17 degree temps like today. The mornings are my favorite. Not sure why. Maybe it's that our crazy + excited dancing, singing, chasing moments {where he's all BOY} are balanced with more intimate read-to-me, rock-me, show-me-something-new moments. There are times I cannot fathom he is only 2. He defies every expectation I had before becoming a mommy. And there are random times {like when he wakes crying at 4am and takes 20 minutes to settle} when I wish he would never get a millisecond older. And yet, I cannot wait to see what's ahead on this journey. Buby is napping. Exhausted. This a.m.'s repertoire included:
  • no less than 75 laps around the ottoman playing 'i'm gonna getcha'
  • puzzle doing x 3
  • book reading {i to him/him to me}
  • an hour-long appointment away from home
  • a stop at the bakery for bagels + iced decaff {yes, it's 17 degrees}
  • a game of one-on-one hoops
  • batting practice for almost an hour {yes, in the house}
  • taking mini monkeys for a ride on the firetruck
  • guitar playing
  • violin discovery
  • pretend tea party
  • nap time {he naps late, around 3pm now}

I hear ya, I totally love the mornings too, Nena wakes up so happy at around 7 am after a long and nice sleep at night...she sweetly asks to be fed and then wants to play with mommy in bed. I love those special moments...I'll have to blog that, thanks for reminding me by your entry!

I can't believe you're awake at 5:45 AM! We don't rise until around 7:30 or 8:00. Lazy bones! I think it's funny you have batting practice in the house. You're so much fun! I'd love to have a tea party with Buby...that's more my speed. Naps are around 2:00 here...always induced by nursing or a car ride. Sounds like a busy and fun day for you today!

What beautiful eyes. I think we need to get LP and Buby together more often for the getcha game, I can't keep up with how many times LP wants to play but I know that Buby could.

I wonder if early rising is genetic and skipped my generation? As we enter the wonderful world of night time dryness, she will sleep longer if she's not wet. Otherwise...5:45 - 6:30-ish am.

I always knew you would be an amazing mother - Buby and Bebe are lucky to have you. You didn't used to be a morning person, what happened?

Well, you don't have a choice when you have kids, right? You're up when they are up... ready for anything. I'm not so much a night owl like I used to be. So maybe that means I'm getting old.

You're not getting older - you're getting better. In all reality I think the 30's and 40's were my favorite years. Now who sounds old?
