Possibly the best thing to come of our hibernation over the past 2 weeks has been the enormous stack of creative works by Buby. Instead of rushing to ready for class or friends or the great To-Do List after breakfast, we've been staying in our Sick Day jammies a bit longer to indulge in markers and paint and glitter glue. Buby's technique is total freestyle at 2 years old. I never ask him to draw specific objects, because I have no expectation of it looking like, well, anything at this point. So how surprised was I yesterday when Buby quietly drew the image above and then handed it to me and shouted, "AIRPLANE! I DID IT!" I have to say... it sorta looks like one. Doesn't it? I captioned the artwork, which I rarely do, because I want to remember his expression forever. Buby flipped the pages of his sketchbook and continued with a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th airplane. True... he's been toying with his plastic Little People airplane since the holidays, but still. I'm impressed.
