Sporadic thunderstorms did not dampen our stars + stripes spirit on Saturday. Our bday bbq for the Bubster went on despite the rain. The whole day was crazy wonderful and jam-packed with fun and friends. We started early with a pancake breakfast at the church and then snagged some space on main street next to a zillion other kids awaiting a parade, bagpipes, and free candy. Buby was overjoyed to be hanging with Graga, Grandpa, Grammy DJ, Uncle B., Lauren, Tom, Heidi, Jason, Hannah, and Cooper. From there we pulled Buby {in his red wagon} to the park for a few quick amusements. Buby went on a solo train ride and his first Fun Slide with Uncle Billy AND Grandpa. He loved it.
We walked the festival for a bit and headed home to let Buby nap before guests arrived. We all went swimming and cooled off, munched on apps {thanks to my mama}, and enjoyed the sun while it lasted. Perhaps we cooked too much food, but I don't dare say too many desserts. Is there such thing? Cupcakes, key lime squares {thanks, Jason!}, star-shaped sugar cookies, brownies, and apple crisp oh my!! Buby was in good company, big and small. He scored some sweet gifts, blew out his "2" candle, and rode to his very first fireworks display with Gillian in his red wagon. Amazing fireworks. And the two kids held hands the entire way home. Yucky mugginess aside, it was a very good day.

We had the best time ever! Thanks so much for your hospitality & it was really nice meeting all of Buby's friends. The rain didn't ruin anything - everything was perfect! Can't wait to see you again on the 30th.

Great photos. I loved the veggie/cheese/cream cheese wraps. And key lime squares. Your families are wonderful people. Buby is lucky.
