Portrait by Buby & Kiki. Dated: 7.12.07. Origination: Buby Land. Value: Priceless
Today we say bye to Kiki, at least for now. She's off to Europe next week to visit family. Kiki is our lovely babysitter. And Buby's comedy show here two afternoons a week. I swear he instinctively knows when it's a Kiki day, because he wakes up from his nap chanting "KIKI, KIKI." He expects her to be downstairs waiting for him. From 3-6, she runs in circles, dances even when there's no music, responds to a testing toddler's every whim, and helps foster a budding imagination through pretend play.
Yesterday, I heard infectious giggling from my office two floors up. {They were doing some sort of slapstick routine} I opened my door after a conference call and was delighted to find this sweet portrait of Buby and our furry black dog Jazzy at my feet. Kiki was obviously inspired by "LULLYU," Buby's fave way to say "I Love You." I grilled her on who is the true artiste, and she insists it's Buby. Ha!
Because she's only 12, Buby thinks of her as a playdate. But she has a natural way with little ones and is pretty mature for her years. I run down to comfort on fussy days, answer questions, change the #2 diapers, but I mostly let them do their thing. When she leaves, it looks like a tornado hit my house. Every room they set foot in... trashed. But in a good "Kiki & Gavin played here" kinda way. Safe travels! Buby will miss you.
