Friday's featured site is PSYCHO BABY (www.psychobabyonline.com). Name aside, it's the coolest of cool and home to lots of hard-to-find kid gear. Starting with Ugly Dolls, above, which are sold exclusively through independent and specialty boutiques (with the exception of FAO Schwarz). These peculiar plush things are darling and disturbing at once. First unveiled in 2002 by toy designers David Horvath and Kim Sun-min, the uglies became all the rage last year after winning the coveted 'Specialty Toy of the Year' award from the Toy Industry of America. Now there are more than 20 to gawk at, drool over, and squish and squeeze, each a character in its own right. They have names, stories, and relationships with each other. Buby's Mama received Ugly Dog/Red from a pr rep last year and wishes she hadn't lost him.
