Alphabet Sea Stones

I spotted these Baltic Sea stones by an artist and mom living in Russia. See her blog here.

They remind me of my maternal grandmother. She spent years collecting sea stones off the coast of Florida. She shipped them back to New York, and at least a few buckets full were stored in my parents' basement after she passed away. These stones fascinated me for years. Each one with its own story to tell.

In 2000 I used them as place cards for the 100+ people at our wedding reception. I spent hours writing each guest's name in teeny letters. My grandmother never lived to meet My Sweets, but I know for sure she would have adored him to pieces, and I like to think the stones were her little way of taking part.

Mom, did we use them all or are there 26 more in your basement somewhere? Would be cool to paint an alphabet keepsake with Buby this summer.
