Christening Day
I'm about three Sundays behind on posting this but still want to share. We had Oliver baptized on February 20 at My Sweets' hometown church. Isn't it beautiful? We've had all three children christened there by the same retired deacon and his wife. They are the loveliest couple.
This was our first winter baptism {Buby was May and Bleu August}, so we opted to keep it very informal with just immediate family in attendance. The God parents are Tom's brother Mike and cousin Debbie. We love them both dearly and are incredibly grateful to them for standing up in this way for our children... three times.
We actually zoomed into town a day early for cousin Riley's baptism, so that worked out perfectly. After her service we headed back to Aunt Mary's for lunch and caught up with the crew in from Maryland. Before we left Buby tripped on a toy and cut up his left cheek.
Unfortunately I didn't plan well the details of Sunday. I hastily threw Bleu's old christening gown into a suitcase figuring it would fit Ollie but not realizing it was covered in yellow spit-up stains. It wasn't an heirloom, so I took scissors to it last minute and cut the stained parts off. I forgot we had hand-me-down cross socks at home, so the babes wore white and grey tube socks and no shoes. Sporty! I went with long wet hair {no time to dry} and a snug size 2 suit I bought at Barney's three babies ago. At least I showered. Lucky for Ollie we had a pretty white blanket that someone gifted us for Buby's baptism five years ago. That kept him cozy. Oh, and...
Literally two minutes before we left my mother-in-law's house for the church we had an accident involving a textbook and Bleu's face. My Sweets and I were in the other room, but we heard the horrific cry. In the car Buby explained that he was balancing his new math book from Grandma on his head when it fell. {We've never seen him do this before.} Bleu's entire left cheek was bloodied and cut. We went straight to the church, and I couldn't help but stare at her poor face all day.
On the upside, it was fantastic to see all the first cousins party hard at my parents' house after the service. A great thank you to my mom for hosting lunch. She's the best cook. Here are a few shots taken by my sis-in-law Melissa or my brother Billy.

Happy birthday to My Sweets. My mom made a carrot cake with 36 candles.
Buby is a tie man. He insists.
My dad with the guest of honor, and look at all of those shoes!
All's well that ends well.
