At Last

I could almost hear Etta James in the background. Today two old friends got together after an eternity apart.

Buby and Lillian met when they were six months old and have grown in unison ever since. Except this year our very busy lives took us in opposite directions. Not that Buby hasn't talked about her 10 million, 650 thousand times since our last rendezvous. But anyway... they have a history and he makes a point to remind me.

A random thing happened and we went over after my dentist appointment, even though Buby was 100% exhausted. Bleu and I gawked at the cute new babe while Buby and Lillian went about their business. Except instead of chasing in circles, laughing, screaming and loving each other all out, they were different. Older. More mature. Quiet and respectful and curious. I walked upstairs to Lillian's room and heard them conversing about figurines and desk chairs and their respective schools.

They were comfortable. Like old friends. Even when they played near but not with each other. It was very sweet.
