Happy Weekend

We are on vacation this week visiting the grands, aunts, uncles and cousins. It is our last trip to Family Land before Baby No. 3 arrives, so we intend to soak it all up.

And by "it" I mean the love, free play, slow mornings, fresh berries, four wheeling, nature hikes, frozen custard, girl talk {with cousins Sid, Lily, Grace, Reagan and Jamie}, "squeezey hugs," and trips to the petting zoo, planetarium and public market.

My Sweets has to work Monday, so we hitched a trailer to my car so that he could join us for the weekend and drive his motorcycle back home on Sunday. I cannot even imagine how much we are going to miss him this week! Especially if Bleu has any more of her unexpected "fuss downs" {as Buby so affectionately refers to them}.

Have a wonderful week.

Our Week {in photos}

Buby's friend John came to play today. We've missed John.

We read this book over and over. Then returned it to the library one day late. Oops.

Bleu's friend Kenny turned 2 and we all attended a knock-out party.

The book bag and lunch box arrived. Our kindergartner insisted on a Stephen Joseph dino design, which is super similar to last year's bug motif. The kid knows what he likes.

Bleu requested privacy on the potty. Hmmm... I wonder if that includes posting photos?

We secured two orchestra seats for an upcoming performance of The Lion King on Broadway. It's a major mommy-son treat courtesy of My Sweets.

My Sweets harvested tomatoes, carrots, onions and peppers from our garden. Happy eating.

Bleu gave a thumbs up to her new big-girl mattress.

They discovered the joy of rolling backwards into each other.

I gave two very old twin beds new life. I will reveal a finished boy/girl room soon.

Bleu raced upstairs to the playroom to feed her babies every morning after our breakfast.

And she flirted with a few girlie accents.

The artists-in-residence painted masterpieces on the bathroom floor.

I roasted late-night S'mores for My Sweets and I on the stove top. Photo from here.

We put the children in their own beds, and Bleu ended up in Buby's. Again.

Two friends showed off their kung-foo moves. Watching them makes my heart smile.

Little people climbed big boulders at a local campground.

A Tea Party

Bleu girl is totally smitten with the little wooden table and chair set at her friend Ella's house. She seeks it out whenever we're there.

On this day there were no teeny tiny figurines in sight, so I caught Bleu improvising her tea party with animal-motif puzzle pieces. And she shared with Ava.

Ella's "Grandma" told me she found the set at a Playing Mantis store, but I visited the online site with no luck. I did, however, discover an awesome source for all things wooden, puzzle and mobile.

Pregnancy Update

I'm not sure what week I'm in. Maybe 27? That's the curious thing about being with child for a third time. You are so busy with the other two that you hardly notice your body growing enormous overnight.

You aren't posting What-Not-To-Eat lists on the fridge and thumbing through What to Expect books in bed. {By now you know.} You aren't keeping lists of questions and concerns for your next checkup and calling your mom with every fetal milestone. My regular OB visits average 4 minutes... and only because the nurse checks urine, weight and BP.

When my dr. found out I was pregnant again he shook Tom's hand and mine and assured us "Go and enjoy. I'll catch your baby when the time comes." That was it. No reminders or warnings or this is what you can expects. Truth be told, it's difficult to tell my pregnancies apart on most days. That's a good thing.

Of course there was the placenta previa and premature dilation with Buby, but all of that miraculously worked itself out so that I could deliver a perfectly healthy boy four days after he was originally due.
This time around I had early concerns about exposure to radiation, but so far no health issues. Thank God. Even the third trimester symptoms that are starting to surface now {ie. leg cramps, fatigue, sciatica pain, swollen fingers, heartburn} are all very familiar to me.

The best part about having been here/done this before is that you pay attention just to the things you want to. To the things that matter. I don't worry when I go hours without a nudge or a kick from the inside, because I know that I've lulled the babes to sleep.

My point is: Nothing much to report. We still don't know the sex. I am probably done with ultrasounds. Anticipation is mounting here as Buby and Bleu talk baby throughout the day. I have been blessed with mostly UNeventful pregnancies {medically speaking}, and I pray that continues. The births? Well, that's another story for another day.

Not a Dry Heat

I haven't seen my little girl outside without "drippy sweat" all over her face in weeks. It's that hot here in the northeast.

The Rocket Launch

I'm so glad I was able to accompany my boys on their inaugural rocket launch this past Sunday. It was an incredible sight.

My Sweets used a diy hobby shop Flash! rocket. We all counted back from 10 and cheered wildly during blast off. The first flight with an A8-3 engine hit an altitude of about 150 feet. Once he spotted the bright orange parachute Buby was off and running into a nearby field.

The second engine was a C6-5. Would you believe it shot up 950 feet? Even with all eyes on the sky we lost that one for a minute or two while it was descending back to Earth. The rocket landed in a tree far far away, and we all hiked to witness its recovery. Hip hip hurray.

What's Cooking Around Here

My mom just pointed out that she had to look at fruit for days. FRUIT. And now the bare toes. Trust me, I have not forgotten how to post. We're just so unscheduled this summer that our "free days" fill up fast with random stuff and our nights are spent in a state of exhaustion.

This is not a napping house, as much as I wish it were, though the trade-off is freedom. And we are soaking up every delightful minute of it until back-to-school hits us hard on September 2. Don't even get me started on the Fall.

I've been going to bed with My Sweets before 1 a.m. {awesome!} and not waking until the children first peep around 7:30. We start slow with a big breakfast and then dig our heals into the to-do projects, outings, recipes and play dates du jour.

I'm pretty sure the wee ones are enjoying every bit thus far. And I give Buby a gold star for enduring his sister's spicy temperament as of late. I'm sure it's a combination of age, gender and this awful heat... but our sweet baby girl definitely heads up the drama department these days.

Here are a few photos I wanted {but never found time} to share last week.

I never wanted a pool, but now I don't see how we could survive without it.

A new creation from Buby every morning.

Organic mini chip cookies fresh from the oven.

Our view to and fro. Isn't it peaceful?

Buby with Bleu's bracelet. He snagged it and ran into his room quick before she noticed.

Feeding the geese is a daily request.

We have four gorgeous pond/river spots that we can check for geese.

Peas from our garden. The children like to eat them just like this.

Bowling on a rainy Wednesday. One game takes one hour. Can you tell who dressed himself?

Bleu often sneaks into my bed while I'm still reading to Buby. She loves her dollies from Debbie.

Two butterfly nets, one pink and one blue, equal endless possibilities around here.

A Friday night float parade in our village. I agreed to one street lolli each. Buby shouted, "This is like Halloween!" {You know... where they trade in their entire bags of junk for one supercool lolli.}

He's finally confident on his big bike, but he'll still race Bleu on the tiny tricycles.

Bare feet and veggie sticks at Saturday's fireman's parade next door.

The one time I actually saw them sit still on the blanket with us.

Our favorite village tree came down this week. We were so sad.

Best fireworks in the whole world... walking distance from our house.

Our sweet pie in his beloved dino tank from Grandma DJ.

T-ball for 5-6 year olds was down to two boys this session, so they canceled on week 2.

Tube sliding with Bleu and her friends at the park last Tuesday.
